Taeil is a member of NCT 127, the Seoul-based sub-unit of NCT managed by SM Entertainment, debuting with the group on July 7, 2016 as part of its original seven-member lineup. Originally introduced through SM Rookies after joining the label in 2013, he released the solo soundtrack "Because Of You" for the television series The Merchant: Gaekju 2015 prior to NCT 127's debut. He had also previously debuted as a member of NCT U.
