Johnny is a member of NCT 127, the Seoul-based sub-unit of NCT managed by SM Entertainment. Originally introduced through SM Rookies, he was the first NCT 127 member to join the label, recruited through an American audition in Chicago, Illinois in 2007. He joined NCT 127 in December 2016 ahead of the group's second EP Limitless.
