Sooyoung is a member of Girls' Generation (SNSD), the South Korean girl group under SM Entertainment that debuted in August 2007. Before joining, she had appeared in the Japanese music scene as part of Route 0, a pop duo that disbanded roughly a year after its 2002 debut. She entered SM's trainee system through the 2000 SM Open Audition. The group's most recent releases include the seventh studio album FOREVER 1 (2022) and the single K-POP ScreaM 1, released in December 2024.
