Soyeon is the leader and primary songwriter and producer of I-dle (formerly (G)I-dle), a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2018. Before debuting with the group, she represented Cube Entertainment on the survival show Produce 101 (peaking at 20th place on the final episode), competed in Unpretty Rapstar Season 3 (finishing as second runner-up), and released solo digital singles "Jelly" and "Idle Song". She voiced the character Akali for K/DA's "Pop/Stars" in 2018.
