Soyeon is the leader and a primary songwriter and producer of I-dle (formerly (G)I-dle), a South Korean girl group under Cube Entertainment that debuted in 2018. Before debuting with the group, she represented Cube Entertainment on the survival show Produce 101 (finishing 20th), competed in Unpretty Rapstar Season 3 (finishing as second runner-up), and released solo digital singles "Jelly" and "Idle Song." She also voiced the character Akali for Riot Games' virtual K-pop group K/DA on the 2018 song "Pop/Stars."
