Hoshi is a member of Seventeen, a South Korean boy band formed by Pledis Entertainment that debuted on May 26, 2015. In February 2015, ahead of the group's debut, he co-hosted the AfreecaTV live program Hoshi and Seungkwan's Andromeda (호시, 승관의 안드로메다) alongside fellow member Seungkwan. He recalled that while waiting to debut, the trainees began creating choreography for pop songs and making music among themselves, which led Pledis to adopt the "self-producing idol" concept for the group.
